An emotional Steve Bruce praised his Newcastle United players for showing fight in the face of the worst Covid outbreak in the Premier League.
Defenders Fabian Schar and skipper Federico Fernandez, two Toon players who have been ill, were both instrumental in Newcastle restricting City last night with only 24% possession.
‘We were beaten by the better team but I can not fault our attitude and application,’ said Bruce after his side’s plucky 2-0 defeat.
‘Fab Schar has only trained twice in five weeks and had to show resilience.
