Callum Wilson will undergo surgery after damaging his pectoral tendon and will be sidelined for nine to 12 weeks, in the latest major injury blow to hit Newcastle.

Mail Sport understands the striker will be operated on this week and that could rule him out until early May, meaning he misses the majority of the campaign. The best-case scenario is a return in April.

Either way, it is almost certain he will not feature in Newcastle’s next 10 fixtures and, if he does not play again this season, it could mean Wilson has played his last game for the club, given his contract will have 12 months to run come the summer.
