Ex-Newcastle loanee Jetro Willems 'rejects new deal at Eintracht Frankfurt and opens the door to a return to St James' Park', with club able to agree a contract with him in January ahead of free transfer next summer

Newcastle could make a January move for former loanee Jetro Willems after the left back turned down a new deal at Eintracht Frankfurt, according to reports.

The left back spent the 2019-20 campaign with Steve Bruce's side but ruptured his anterior cruciate ligament in January and he has not played a competitive game since.

Willems will become a free agent at the end of the season, meaning he can sign a pre-contract agreement with another European club in January. Chronicle Live report he is open to a return to the Magpies after rejecting a new deal with the Bundesliga side.
