Cheick Tiote is still looking for a move away from Newcastle United after the collapse of his £1.8million transfer to Galatasaray.
Sources close to the player say they were disappointed at claims from Galatasaray that the 30-year-old had failed a medical which they insist is incorrect.
They state the real reason is that they were unfortunately unable to reach a contractual agreement between club and player.
The Turkish side had earlier heralded Tiote's arrival in Istanbul and have now moved on to other targets.
