Atletico Madrid full back Kieran Trippier 'remains interested' in joining Manchester United despite the club failing to sign him last summer... but Red Devils 'may now face competition from mega-rich Newcastle'

Atletico Madrid defender Kieran Trippier is still keen on joining Manchester United in the future despite the club failing to sign him last summer, according to reports.

United have held a long-term interest in Trippier, 31, and viewed him as the ideal candidate to provide competition for Aaron Wan-Bissaka at right back.

However, a move did not materialise with Old Trafford chiefs believed to have been reluctant to meet his price tag, but Trippier remains interested in sealing the switch.

That has been claimed by AS in Spain, although it remains to be seen whether United themselves would be willing to reignite their pursuit of their former target.
