Swansea and Brighton are locked in a battle to land Carl Jenkinson after Newcastle dropped out of the race for the Arsenal star.
The right-back, who has one England cap, is free to leave the Emirates Stadium this summer and is expected to move before the transfer deadline.
Newcastle manager Rafa Benitez was keen on the defender but last week’s capture of Javier Manquillo has seen the Magpies cool their interest.
That leaves Swansea and Brighton leading the race to land Jenkinson this summer.
