Allan Saint-Maximin has warned Newcastle they must improve or face losing him after he insisted he does not want to go through another relegation battle.
The talented Frenchman is the Magpies' best player and has been linked with a £40million move away, with Steve Bruce even admitting it is 'inevitable' there will be interest in him.
And although Saint-Maximin confirmed he wants to continue at St James' Park, he hinted that things must improve if he is to see out his long contract until 2026.
Speaking ahead of Friday night's clash at Leicester, he said: 'I hope we don't fight again to not go down.
