Sam Allardyce will receive a six-figure bonus for every place West Bromwich Albion finish above 18th in the Premier League, due to an extraordinary contract that could earn him up to £10million in 18 months at the club.
In a complex deal, the new manager’s remuneration package is directly linked to his side’s finishing position, with Allardyce to receive a percentage of the club’s Premier League prize money if they avoid relegation on top of pay for keeping them up.
The value of Allardyce’s contract is capped at £10m if he hits every performance target, although he has not made the immediate impact West Brom were hoping for since being appointed last month, taking one point from three matches and angering some players with public criticism.
