Yankees Rumors Roundup: No Talks On Extending Tanaka, Not Pursuing Quintana & More

The New York Yankees are almost done with what will likely end up being a pivotal offseason for the franchise, and there's plenty of rumors to be had both from the trade and free agency markets as the new season approaches. Here's the latest news & rumors you need to know:

No talks on extending Tanaka
New York technically has pitcher Masahiro Tanaka under contract for four more years, but Tanaka's contract does include an opt-out clause after the 2017 season. However, general manager Brian Cashman said that he hasn't talked to Tanaka's representatives about an extension - and doesn't plan to.

"We have a significant contract with Masahiro Tanaka," Cashman said. "Hopefully he has a great year, and then he'll have a decision to make. If he doesn't, then he won't. I think he pitched like a Cy Young award candidate last year, and I certainly hope he does so again this year. But at this point we've had no discussions internally to pursue any kind of extension."

Tanaka went 14-4 with a 3.07 ERA in 31 starts last season.

Yankees not interested in Quintana
The Yankees had been rumored to be interested in Chicago White Sox pitcher Jose Quintana, who Chicago is open to trading after dealing Chris Sale to the Red Sox. However, Jack Curry of the YES Network says that the Yankees are no longer interested after learning of Chicago's asking price.

Quintana went 13-12 with a 3.20 ERA and 181 strikeouts last season.

New York done making offseason moves?
Along with their interest in Quintana, the Yankees have been rumored to be shopping Brett Gardner and Chase Headley this offseason. However, Curry also reports that the Yankees are done making moves.
