How Much Money Do The Yankees Have Left To Spend?
New York's blockbuster trade for Miami Marlins outfielder Giancarlo Stanton has made this offseason one to remember for New York fans. With that being said, the Yankees still have holes that need to be addressed, but New York is committed to staying under the $197 million luxury tax, according to Jon Morosi of MLB.com.

Under baseball's Collective Bargaining Agreement, the payroll calculation for the Competitive Balance Tax includes benefits, insurance and performance bonuses paid to players on the Major League roster. For the Yankees, that figure could be at least $10 million in 2018.

Moreover, the Yankees want to allocate another $10 million to spend at the non-waiver Trade Deadline and on call-ups during the season.

That leaves $15 million.

With only $15 million to spend, the Yankees more than likely won't be able to land a big-named player - unless they make a trade to offload some salary.

Will The Yankees Trade David Robertson?
According to Morosi, the Yankees may trade pitcher David Robertson to clear some payroll room so they can sign a big-name player like Mike Moustakas. Outfielder Jacoby Ellsbury has been linked to several trade rumors all offseason, but not many teams have shown interest in him because of the three years and $68 million he has left on his contract.

Instead, sources say the Yankees' tentative plan allows for another $15 million in spending this offseason -- unless Cashman frees up additional payroll by trading reliever David Robertson or outfielder Jacoby Ellsbury.

Robertson is due $13M in 2018, which is relatively cheap for one of the best relief pitchers in baseball. The 32-year-old appeared in 61 games and held a 1.84 ERA with 14 saves in 2017.

Yankees Add Another Hitting Coach
The Yankees will add another hitting coach to their staff. WFAN's Suzyn Waldman first reported that P.J. Pilittere will join Marcus Thames as the team's hitting coach.

The 36-year-old was the Yankee's Triple-A hitting coach and Double-A hitting coach in 2016. Before he started his coaching career, he played eight seasons for New York's minor league clubs.

He will join bench coach Daniel Bard, first base coach Reggie Willits, third base coach Phil Nevin, pitching coach Larry Rothschild and infield coach Carlos Mendoza.
