Mark Teixeira’s stiff neck is still an issue, and it kept him out of the lineup Monday for the second time in less than a week.
The first baseman underwent an MRI exam and received a cortisone shot before the Yankees’ 11-8 loss to the Phillies in the Bronx.
“It came back pretty good,” manager Joe Girardi said vaguely of the MRI after the game. “Nothing alarming. I don’t know what we’ll have [Tuesday]. We’ll just have to wait and see.”
Teixeira has been bothered by the injury since the series in Baltimore more than a week ago, and it hasn’t cleared up.
