The New York Yankees couldn’t touch Max Scherzer for most of their game against the Washington Nationals, but they were able to turn the corner near the end of the game.

Scherzer struck out 14 batters in a virtuoso performance, but a Nationals bullpen that has been an issue for weeks once again blew it with the lights fixed firmly on them.

It was the Yankees and what looked like an uninspired lineup who came out on top thanks to Gleyber Torres, who had one of his best games of the season this year after coming through in the clutch.
