Yankees unloading Carlos Beltran to Rangers

The Yankees fire sale is in full effect.

After trading Aroldis Chapman and Andrew Miller in the past week, the Yankees agreed to ship Carlos Beltran to the Rangers just before Monday’s non-waivers trade deadline.

The Yankees are believed to be receiving Dillon Tate, a hard-throwing righty pitcher who was the fourth overall pick in last year’s draft, and two other prospects.

The 39-year-old Beltran has been the team’s most consistent hitter this season, batting .304 with 22 home runs. He’ll be a free agent after the year, and the Yankees decided maximizing his value was better than having him play out the last few months for a team hopelessly mired around .
