Yankees top outfield prospect exits game with wrist soreness

Top prospect Estevan Florial left Thursday’s game for Single-A Tampa with right wrist soreness, according to MILB.com.

The 20-year-old outfielder is off to a slow start after a surprising 2017. In 19 games with Tampa a year ago, Florial had an .828 OPS, but in 36 games so far this season, he’s at .696 and has continued to strike out at an alarmingly high rate.

Lefty Justus Sheffield, who was placed on the disabled list with shoulder stiffness last week, is expected to be activated to make his next start on Wednesday for Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.
