Yankees shutout for the first time this season in loss to Mets

NEW YORK — For the first time in 2018, the Yankee offense did not produce a run, as the team was shutout in its series finale against the Mets, 2-0, at Citi Field.

Luis Severino was good on the mound, giving up just two runs, but he was just simply outdueled by Seth Lugo, who gave up just two hits in six innings of work, while striking out eight New York batters.

The only offense of the game came with two outs in the bottom of the fifth inning. After Jose Reyes hit what seemed to be a harmless single to extend the inning, former Yankee Todd Frazier waited on a Severino slider and sent it to the seats in left field for a 2-0 lead.
