As the Yankees get set to start the second half of the season on Friday the urgency to land another starting pitcher should be at an all-time high. With the Red Sox 4.5 games ahead of them in the AL East they’re going to need another quality starter to give themselves a chance at winning the division.
It doesn’t have to be a clear-cut ace like Jacob deGrom (that’s not going to happen), but it does have to be someone who is going to be more consistent than Domingo German and Sonny Gray. Continuing to pitch both of them every fifth day isn’t going to cut.
