The New York Yankees reinstated right-hander Nathan Eovaldi from the 60-day disabled list, the team announced Friday.
Eovaldi's season ended in mid-August, when the Yankees announced that he would have two surgeries to repair a torn flexor tendon and partially torn ulnar collateral ligament in his pitching elbow. He is expected to miss the entire 2017 season.
Tommy John surgery was needed for the UCL injury, marking the second time Eovaldi, 26, has had the procedure. Eovaldi underwent Tommy John as a 17-year-old pitcher at Alvin (Texas) High School.
Eovaldi is eligible for arbitration this offseason, and there's a potential possibility that the Yankees might choose to non-tender him.
