The New York Yankees placed right-hander Jonathan Loaisiga on the 15-day injured list on Tuesday, retroactive to Sunday, due to right elbow inflammation.
The Yankees also transferred first baseman Anthony Rizzo to the 60-day IL and signed right-hander Zach McAllister to a major league contract and moved him to the active roster.
The Yankees also claimed right-hander Luke Weaver off waivers from the Seattle Mariners. They cleared a spot for Weaver on the 40-man roster by transferring left-hander Nestor Cortes to the 60-day IL. Cortes had been considered unlikely to return this season from a rotator cuff strain.
