Yankees’ new relief option drilled in debut

BALTIMORE — Yankees fans already may be pining for Esmil Rogers’ return after the way his replacement pitched Saturday night.

Sergio Santos was added to the Yankees’ bullpen when Rogers was outrighted Friday night, and in his debut, gave up two runs and three hits in two innings in a 9-4 loss to the Orioles at Camden Yards.

Rogers has two choices and two days to make his decision. The struggling right-handed reliever could accept the assignment to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre or decline it. If he accepts it, Rogers would continue to be paid the balance of $1.
