Yankees look like a monster in Opening Day beatdown

Granted, it’s against the Orioles. But it all came together quite well.

Masahiro Tanaka threw 5 2/3 innings of two-run ball (one earned), the bullpen was shutdown and Luke Voit carried the Yankees’ offense in an Opening Day 7-2 victory over Baltimore at the Stadium on Thursday.

Voit’s first-inning, three-run blast set the tone, and his first-base competition, Greg Bird, matched him in the eighth with a solo homer.

Every Yankees starter besides the 0-for-4 Brett Gardner, who drew a walk, had at least one hit.
