Yankees honor Stoneman Douglas victims with hats, moment of silence (PHOTOS)

TAMPA -- The New York Yankees honored the victims of the Majory Stoneman Douglas High School massacre Friday.

The team held a moment of silence before its game against the Detroit Tigers at George M. Steinbrenner Field on Friday afternoon, its first spring training game of the year.

The Yankees also wore the high school team's caps, black with a red "SD" emblazoned on them.

A former student shot to death 17 people and hurt 15 others at the Parkland, Florida, school. Nikolas Jacob Cruz, 19, has been charged with 17 counts of premeditated murder.
