It looks like Gary Sanchez and the other Yankees catchers will have a new coach next season.
The Yankees hired Tanner Swanson as their catching and quality control coach, according to multiple reports. Swanson was the minor-league catching coordinator for the Twins this past season.
Sanchez, who struggled in the postseason, still has the trust of general manager Brian Cashman.
“I thought Gary Sanchez had a great season, obviously outside of the injuries,’’ Cashman said at his season-ending press conference. “You know, Gary is part of the solution.”
There also is a question which other catchers Swanson will be coaching as Austin Romine’s future is up in the air.
