TAMPA — Yankees owner Hal Steinbrenner isn't one for State of the Union addresses. He leaves those to manager Joe Girardi and general manager Brian Cashman. Steinbrenner would prefer to hang in the background.
Didn't happen Wednesday. Surrounded by reporters at George M. Steinbrenner Field, he delved into several topics, including Alex Rodriguez, the futures of his skipper and GM, Jacoby Ellsbury and more.

Steinbrenner said he expects Rodriguez to show up to spring training in his advisor role twice. Then he was asked if he could imagine expanding A-Rod's role with the team.
