Yankees fans weren’t all that psyched to see Aroldis Chapman

TAMPA — If this 2016 season proceeds as Yankees officials envision, then every Aroldis Chapman entrance from the bullpen will be greeted with the sound and fury of fans amped to watch the big southpaw hurl his thunderbolts from the mound.

But let history show that the very first time Yankees public address announcer Paul Olden introduced Chapman in a ballpark, the result was … crickets. You could’ve heard a print-at-home ticket drop.

At George M. Steinbrenner Field on Thursday, the Yankees’ eventual closer made his 2016 Grapefruit League debut with a shaky outing against the Blue Jays.
