Yankees down to one player who would start All-Star Game

Gary Sanchez might be striking out again.

Tampa Bay’s Wilson Ramos has surged ahead of Sanchez in the AL All-Star Game voting. According to voting updates MLB released Tuesday, Ramos has received 678,159 votes, surpassing Sanchez’s 618,899, to take the lead for the AL starting catcher.

The 25-year-old Sanchez has been mired in a near half-season funk, batting .194 (though with 13 home runs and 39 RBIs). Ramos is batting .286, to go along with nine home runs and 35 RBIs.

Sanchez, an All-Star in 2017, is trying to become the first Yankees catcher since Jorge Posada (2002-03) to receive consecutive fan elections.
