After a disastrous Friday evening, Saturday was a success for the New York Yankees. The Old-Timers' Day game took place for the first time since 2019 and the Bombers secured a clutch 5-4 victory over the Houston Astros.
But after the game ended, a Yankees spokesperson revealed legendary closer Mariano Rivera suffered an Achilles injury during the Old-Timers' Day game. Roger Clemens told Suzyn Waldman and Dave Sims during the radio broadcast that Rivera was at the hospital because of it, which concerned fans, but everybody had to wait another hour for official confirmation.
