WASHINGTON, DC – The Tommy John epidemic has officially claimed another victim.
Chase Whitley will undergo the procedure on his right elbow on Tuesday at New York-Presbyterian Hospital after being examined Monday by team physician Dr. Chris Ahmad.
Whitley left the game last Thursday after experiencing discomfort in his elbow. The righthander said his arm had been bothering him for a while, but he wasn’t too concerned as he was pitching well. Thursday night against the Rays, Whitley couldn’t locate his pitches and felt pain on every pitch, forcing him from the game in the second inning.
