Yankees celebrate 1977 World Series title at fundraiser

TORONTO — Talking from his Florida home Bucky Dent heard the question and paused before answering.

“Time is flying, I don’t believe it,’’ the former Yankee shortstop said when asked if it seemed real that it is the 40th anniversary of the 1977 Yankees, a team that will be celebrated Monday with a golf tournament/fundraiser for Hank’s Yanks at Trump Golf Links in The Bronx. “It’s really gone fast.’’

Dent will join Mike Torrez, who won two games in the 1977 World Series against the Dodgers, Mickey Rivers, Roy White and others from that team that stopped a 14-year World Series title drought by winning in six games.
