HOUSTON – Michael Pineda gave the Yankees what they needed Sunday, it just wasn’t enough to get them a series win against the Astros.
Working with a short bullpen, Pineda delivered eight innings of three-run ball, but Collin McHugh held the Yankees to one run over eight frames, giving the Astros a 3-1 victory and a split of the four-game series at Minute Maid Park.
Pineda allowed three runs (two earned) on seven hits, striking out eight without issuing a walk. But McHugh limited the Bombers to only two hits all day, walking two while also striking out eight.
