Ahead of his historic performance, Yankees starter Cam Schlittler noticed that Red Sox fans were harassing his mother online, and he took that personally.
Schlittler channelled his fury into utter dominance, rendering Red Sox hitters helpless in Game 3 en route to eight innings of scoreless ball featuring 12 strikeouts and zero walks.
Thus, while the Red Sox themselves made plenty of mistakes that cost them a Wild Card series in which they led 1-0, Boston fans must also be held accountable for unleashing the beast that was Schlittler in the series’ defining game.
