Yankees attendance dropped off big in 2015 (and was lowest in 15 years)

The Yankees' total attendance in 2015 was high among major league teams, which isn't surprising, but compared to 2014, the figure fell sharply, and was their lowest in 15 years.

Per Baseball Reference, New York's overall attendance in 2015 at Yankee Stadium was 3,193,757, fourth-most in baseball behind the Los Angeles Dodgers, St. Louis Cardinals, and San Francisco Giants.

But that 3.1 million was 207,829 shy of the previous year when they had the third-best attendance in the league. The different per game (-2,566) was the sixth-worst drop-off in the league.

The Yankees drew 39,430 fans per game this year and not since 2000 have they drawn fewer than 40,000, when they brought 3,055,435 fans to the park.
