Yankees’ assistant GM finally gets coveted Angels job

Billy Eppler, a bridesmaid the last time the Angels named a general manger in 2011, received the job this time, The Post confirmed.

Eppler, the Yankees’ director of professional scouting, has been viewed as the frontrunner since Jerry Dipoto resigned as GM on July 1 and was replaced by Bill Stoneman on an interim basis. Dipoto beat out Eppler for the GM job four years ago. He also beat him for the Mariners job, where Eppler also was perceived as one of the finalists.

Eppler interviewed twice with the Mariners. But he is a native of Southern California and the Angels job was more desirable to him.
