New York Yankees shortstop Anthony Volpe has a small tear in the labrum of his left shoulder, but manager Aaron Boone told reporters Thursday that he expects him to be able to play through it.
Volpe, who received a cortisone shot after the All-Star break and another on Wednesday, re-aggravated the injury during Sunday's game and sat out Wednesday for the second time in a week.
Boone said Wednesday that Volpe was in "day-to-day mode." On Thursday, the manager said he doesn't think Volpe will need to be put on the injured list and will probably have an MRI after the season.
