Yankees add an arm who wasn’t part of 18-inning marathon

CINCINNATI — The exhausted Yankees’ bullpen received a fresh arm for Monday night’s game against the Reds when right-hander Chad Green was elevated from Scranton Wilkes-Barre (Triple-A).

When Joe Girardi used six relievers in Sunday night’s 5-4, 18-inning win over the Cubs at Wrigley Field — including Jonathan Holder and Chasen Shreve going three innings each — the Yankees were in need of an arm to help out against the Reds. And it was doubtful that Adam Warren, who pitched 1 1/3 innings Saturday and two innings Sunday, was available Monday night.

Green was slated to start Monday night for SWB at Pawtucket.
