The Say Hey Kid said he’s had several opportunities to meet and talk with President Barack Obama since 2010, when the San Francisco Giants won the first of three World Series titles and were later honored at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.
But Willie Mays’ next visit to the White House will likely dwarf those previous trips.
"I think it's a great honor. I've been going to the White House the last three or four years for the World Series teams. But this will make going there really special,” Mays, the Hall of Fame Giant, told the Daily News Monday after it was announced he would receive the Presidential Medal of Freedom.
