NEW YORK -- Greg Bird said he's not dealing with a typical ankle bruise.
Actually, the Yankees first baseman called it weird -- twice -- before Wednesday's game against the Rays at Yankee Stadium.
"I think it's just in a weird spot," said Bird, who's been in pain since fouling a ball off the ankle at the end of spring training.
"If it was an inch higher, I think it would be just a bruise. Where it's at, there's a lot of movement there. At least that's how they explained it to me.
