CC Sabathia won for the first time in The Bronx since Sept. 20, 2013, but instead of walking off the field to an ovation, the big lefty had to be restrained from going after home plate umpire Dan Bellino after being tossed in the sixth inning.
Sabathia had just gotten Kole Calhoun to ground into an inning-ending double play when he questioned Bellino about a 1-1 pitch that was called low earlier in the at-bat.
Bellino ejected Sabathia, causing Joe Girardi to leap over the dugout railing and also get tossed by Bellino. Sabathia charged at Bellino, but never made contact, as Girardi, John Ryan Murphy and bench coach Rob Thomson got in his way.
