What is Furosemide, the drug that earned a Yankees' minor leaguer a suspension?

BALTIMORE -- It was announced by Major League Baseball today that Yankees' minor leaguer Wilking Rodriguez tested positive for Furosemide, a banned performance enhancing drug. He'll be done for 80 games, and won't be paid during that time.

What is Furosemide?

It's a pill that apparently keeps your body from absorbing too much salt, allowing it (salt) instead to be passed through urine. It's said that Furosemide "treats fluid retention (edema) in people with congestive heart failure, liver disease, or a kidney disorder such as nephrotic syndrome."

Furosemide is also used to treat high blood pressure.
