Today on Pinstripe Alley - 11/9/21

Welcome to Tuesday. It’s mostly unremarkable, but how about a random Yankees anniversary note? On this day 61 years ago, Roger Maris narrowly beat out teammate Mickey Mantle for the AL MVP, capturing the award in his debut season in pinstripes. Maris beat Mantle by only three points, winning despite not leading in first-place votes (for what it’s worth, WAR estimates indicate that the honor ended up in the right hands). A year later during the record-setting 1961 campaign, Maris topped Mantle once more — again by only a few points.
