Starlin Castro’s heroic night helps A-Rod go out a winner

Alex Rodriguez’s playing days are over with the Yankees, but he’s already showing the team he can excel in an advisory role.

Just hours after mentioning Starlin Castro as one of the keys to the team’s stretch run, the shortstop made A-Rod look prophetic in the 41-year-old’s final game in pinstripes, driving in four runs — including a tie-breaking, two-run homer in the sixth inning — to give the Yankees a 6-3 win Friday night over the Rays.

After Rodriguez drove in the Yankees’ first run with a hard-hit double to right center in the first inning – also producing one of The Bronx’s loudest cheers in recent years – Castro came through with two clutch two-out hits.
