The New York Yankees are acquiring third baseman Ryan McMahon in a trade with the Colorado Rockies, sources confirmed to ESPN on Friday.
The Yankees are sending two minor league pitchers, left-hander Griffin Herring and right-hander Josh Grosz, to the Rockies in return, a source said.
The deal fills multiple needs for the Yankees, who were seeking a left-handed bat and a replacement for Oswald Peraza (.147 batting average) at third base.
The 30-year-old McMahon, who hit home runs in the first two games after the All-Star break and another on Tuesday, is on pace to keep his four-year 20-homer streak alive.
