September 19, 1996: Yankees split doubleheader with Baltimore

The Yankees split a doubleheader against the Orioles today, but took two out of three from the overall in the series. In game one, Kenny Rogers turned in 5.2 innings and gave up just three hits, helping the Yankees win 9-3. Rogers walked four, however, which contributed to his high pitch count. He was relieved by Brian Boehringer – who allowed three runs – and Jeff Nelson, who closed out the game with 1.1 scoreless innings.

The Yankees offense in game one was lead by Mariano Duncan, who went 3-for-5 and drove in three runs.
