Report: Yankees looking to potentially replace Gleyber Torres at shortstop

The New York Yankees could make a surprise move and replace Gleyber Torres at shortstop, moving him back to second base where he was more comfortable during the 2019 campaign.

Torres spent 40 games at shortstop this past season, recording a .933 fielding percentage with 11 double plays and nine errors. Reflecting back on his 2019 season at the position, he played in 77 games, almost double the sample size of this past year. He finished with a .961 fielding percentage, 35 double plays, and 11 errors.

It seems as if he actually took a step backward in 2020, which is extremely problematic considering the Yankees were hoping he would develop into their long-term solution.
