Report: Yankees, Betances Avoid Arbitration, Agree On $5.1M Deal

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) — The Yankees and Dellin Betances won’t have to go through another ugly arbitration.

According to MLB.com’s Mark Feinsand, the two sides have settled on a $5.1 million contract for 2018.

Last offseason, Betances sought $5 million and the Yankees offered $3 million. After an arbitrator sided with the Yankees, team president Randy Levine set up an unusual conference call with reporters to rip Betances’ agent.

“I feel bad for Dellin that he was used in that way by his agent, because anyone who knows about this process, anyone would know that the history is very well established,” Levine said.
