Report: New York Yankees bench coach Carlos Mendoza pursuing a managerial job

George A. King lll of the New York Post reported that New York Yankees bench coach Carlos Mendoza is a potential candidate for two managerial jobs. The report indicated that he’s rumored to be a candidate for both the Boston Red Sox and Detroit Tigers vacancies.

This comes after Marcus Thames, Yankees hitting coach, also interviewed for the Tigers job nearly two weeks ago.

Mendoza, 40, spent 13 years as a minor-leaguer for the Giants and the Yankees. He retired from playing in 2009 and began coaching in the Yankees minor league system soon after.
