Rob Refsnyder’s non-audition audition continued Friday night.
Observers continue to keep an eye on the second baseman’s future, but both Refsnyder and Joe Girardi refused to look beyond Friday’s 4-3 win over Seattle, even as he started for a third straight time and with the July 31 non-waiver trade deadline fast approaching.
“Is it a two-week tryout for [Refsnyder]?” Girardi said. “No. I’m not going to say that.”
Maybe not, but the 24-year-old got another opportunity to show the Yankees — and other teams — what he’s capable of on the major league level.
He went 0-for-2 and was fine in the field, although he did make an awkward backhand flip to get a force out in the second.
