Yankees’ Aaron Hicks needs Tommy John surgery

Aaron Hicks will undergo Tommy John surgery on Oct. 30, and will miss a significant portion of next season following an eight- to 10-month recovery.

“He played great for us in the postseason, but once the season ended, the feeling of there’s something here that’s still not right,” Yankees general manager Brian Cashman said at Thursday’s end-of-season press conference.

“The follow-up doctor exam led to the ultimate decision of, ‘We’ve gotta get this thing fixed or it’s gonna blow in February, March, April.
