No Yankees return as Lance Lynn appears close to Rangers deal

This was not nearly on the scale of Patrick Corbin nixing the Yankees for the Nationals, or even the Yankees watching as potential pitching targets Nathan Eovaldi and Carlos Carrasco stayed put with the Red Sox and Indians, respectively.

But another pitcher who had been on the periphery of the Yankees radar won’t be wearing pinstripes next season — as former Yankee Lance Lynn is close to signing a three-year, $30 million free-agent deal with the Rangers, according to reports.

The Post’s Joel Sherman first reported the news, pointing out that the 31-year-old right-hander — acquired from the Twins on July 30 for Tyler Austin and Luis Rijo — was only viewed as a fallback position by GM Brian Cashman.
