On a beautiful Wednesday afternoon in Seattle, Masahiro Tanaka pitched brilliantly in his return from the DL as the New York Yankees beat the Seattle Mariners 3-1 to sweep the series.
Tanaka (3-1 ) who had not pitched since April 23rd after a DL stint tendinitis and a forearm strain looked dominant this afternoon striking out a season high nine batters and retiring 13 in a row before being removed in the 8th. Tanaka pitched seven innings giving up only three hits and one run. For Seattle, Taijuan Walker (2-6) who was coming off one of his best starts looked sharp as well, but gave up a solo home run to Mark Teixeira in the 2nd inning and a two-run home run to Garrett Jones in the fourth inning.
