New York Yankees news, 5/8/20: Baseball could be returning soon, Kyle Higashioka, more

New York Post | George A. King III: New York Yankees catcher Kyle Higashioka is fighting to prove his worth after Brian Cashman brought in several depth pieces to compete for the backup spot. Higgy is a solid defensive catcher but hasn’t seen the offensive production Austin Roine enjoyed in 2019. Kyle hit .214 with three homers and 26 strikeouts last season, but his minimal sample size shouldn’t be taken with too much disdain. Despite his offensive woes, Higashioka is very efficient behind the plate and can hold it down if Gary Sanchez picks up an injury.
